For Everyone Fighting For The Right To Love Without Persecution..........

Equal rights for all cannot come soon enough. Shame on us all that this is still an issue. Let’s get it fixed.

Fiscal slope…….I like it.

The Joy of Tax Law

cliffWhile Congress and the media obsess over the “fiscal cliff,” there is a growing dissent amongst some politicians and economists as to how the issue is being labeled.  More appropriate terms, critics of the “fiscal cliff” argue, may include: “fiscal slope,” “gradual fiscal slope,” “fiscal curve,” “taxmageddon,” and “austerity crisis.”  These alternatives attempt to reflect the idea that the fiscal cliff, a series of mandatory budget cuts and tax hikes that kick-in at the end of the year, is not quite the doomsday that falling off a cliff implies.

As Ed Ardeni, president and chief investment strategist for institutional investor advisory Yardeni Research, put it:

“We’re not going to fall off the edge of the earth at the beginning of next year. When you fall off a cliff you die. So it’s a bit of an exaggeration to say that’s what we’re facing here.”

Similarly, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), noted that even if the deadline is missed by a month…

It’s Not An Insult, It’s A Vocation……….

After weeks of no rain, and watching everything in my yard curl up, get crunchy, & die, we are now on day 2 of rain.  It is 0430 and still over 90 degrees, but at least we have a little moisture now.  In honor of the rain and all the happy vibes it gives me, no ranting this morning.  Instead, I dug around my favorite humor sites & pages and offer this:

One Lovely Blog Award

I would like to thank 3teensmom who was gracious enough to nominate sarahjane for the One Lovely Blog Award.  As of this morning, my soapbox has been on the virtual courtsquare corner for a little over 5 months and has amassed 100 followers.  I have absolutely no clue how that happened.  Sarahjane was started as a place to holler about the things I can’t discuss with (or even in front of) friends and family.  This is a place where I can be as ME as I choose to be, and as a result, those who read my posts know me far better than those who have known me my entire life.  Funny, that.  I expected to have an occasional visitor and perhaps a comment or two, with the occasional flaming over my opinions.  I did NOT expect to gather any significant number of regular followers or readers, so I wanted to thank you all very much.  Validation comes in many forms, and I am endlessly tickled, touched, and flattered that any of you find my contributions here of interest.

The rules for this Award are as follows:

  2. I prowl my house in the wee hours of the morning because it is the only time it is quiet, so that is my ‘me’ time.
  3. For some reason, over half the people I meet for the first time call me Anne instead of Suzanne.
  4. My husband & I met on E-Harmony.
  5. I have a pet squirrel in my back yard named Fat Bastard, or F.B. for short.
  6. I could eat Mexican every day and never get tired of it.  I also put avocados in all my salads.
  7. When I was younger, I was sure that the people in the portraits on our walls could see me.  I have yet to obtain positive proof they do not.

Positively shameful.

The Dixie Flatline

A gay HIV-positive man says in court that a hospital denied him treatment and visitors, as the doctor remarked, "This is what he gets for going against God's will."

Joao Simoes sued Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Union County Superior Court. He says that the hospital admitted him in August 2011, but that "requests for his lifesaving medication were not honored," and his sister was denied visitation rights.

Remind me again about Christian love? I seem to have missed its flicker whilst avoiding the glare of bigotry.
