Yuck. Can NOT believe people want to take us back to the cave. Can NOT believe people want to undo decades of hard fought-for women’s rights. How disappointing.

  1. I’m trying to figure this out. And…so help me…I can’t.

    • Me either. I am from the South, and I can see that this man is batshit insane. My mother and stepfather plan to vote for him because he is “the clear Christian candidate.” I told them I could at least cancel out half their votes, but they didn’t see the humor in that.

      • I am with you on that and can’t help you out by cancelling your other needed half. I’m having to cancel out half the vote my son and daughter-in-law are casting. Obviously…we don’t talk politics…or religion.

      • Mom and I had to agree not to talk about politics after I told her I thought Santorum was crazier than a sh*#house rat. Religion is pretty much off the table too. If she ever read my blog, she would never speak to me again. That’s a lot of why I started it. It gets old having to constantly censor my opinions for those around me. On the bright side, I am sure both of our votes will do a tiny bit of good in the world, so there’s that at least.

If Mr Santorum or is it Sanctimonious would become President, it wouldn’t be the first mistake made by your fellow countrymen in the last 30 years. In music it would spell: R & B.

    • Absolutely true. Still terribly concerning, though. Many mistakes made by our lawmakers and governments cannot be helped or rectified at this point, but some can, and those we see heading towards us we can try to avert. I believe we should be fixing what we can, and yelling like Hell about the problem areas we can still avoid.

Posted this earlier to another blog:

You know, at this point I pretty much just can’t bring myself to care anymore about the rest of the Republican primaries, or the November election. Ultimately, the U.S. gets the society and government it deserves. I’m an “independent” voter, and between now and the election I’ll be taking a closer look at any independent presidential candidates; I’ll either vote my principles for someone I can actually support (but who will never win, obviously), or unenthusiastically to re-elect Obama.

I fully support legal abortion and contraception, and will continue doing so, but I’ve reached the stage where to me, when you boil it all down, these issues are more crucial to women than men. Yes, if a woman I know decides to get an abortion I want it to be safe and legal, but women are still the majority sex in this country, and if enough of them can’t recognize their best interests and keep abortion and birth control legal, a male dominated government and society will not do it for them.

    • I can understand the frustration that leads to that kind of apathy. I have certainly experienced it myself, for much the same reason. I can give one good reason why we should ALL care, even when those affected seem to silly or uninterested to help themselves…… It may be women’s issues now, but it won’t be forever. Sooner or later, legislators will come after something that is important or dear to each of us. We must defend others and champion their best interests, so that there will be somebody left to help us when it is our turn.
